ULD: Steampunk Mini Canvas

Hello everyone, Ivy here with a steampunk 3x3 mini canvas to share with everyone.
I LOVE Steampunk!

Instead of using the front of the canvas, I used the back.

I began by covering the canvas with metallic duck tape.

These are the ULD embellishments I decided to use.  They are  Dragonflies (sm), Butterflies (sm & lg) and the Ladybugs (set of 3).   All were first covered with gesso and then painted and/or covered with the metallic tape.

After covering the embellishments with the metallic tape, some partially covered as in the dragonfly, only his body had the metallic tape.  Using my embossing tools, I went around each wooden embellishment.

Here are some of the tools I used to emboss the metallic tape.
The mini pot was also taped.

I used a thin dowel to twirl wire around it.  After I pull out the coiled wire, I stretch it out and I adhered it into place inside of the mini pot, using a glue gun.

With some embellishments, I used a blue Copic pen (BG05).   I placed blue rhinestones on the small Butterfly's body and a small arrow on the larger Butterfly below.

Here's a close up on the embossing that was done to the butterfly.

I placed the Ladybug inside the frame, at an angle with a mini key on its back.

You can see the markings on the Butterfly and Ladybugs that were created with the embossing tools.
I used gray metallic pearls as the spots on the Ladybug's back using glossy accent.

Here's a final look at my completed project

Mixed Media Card

I wanted to create a card that was full of mixed media, grungy, and just have fun getting messy.  Green, gold, and black work so well together it is just too easy to play, you can't go wrong!!

I used the wonderful little wood star like shapes from Unique Laser Designs.  You can find them in the extras from Kenny'Scraps, one of the little fun items you might get in random assortment pack.

I painted each star with Sparkle Medium in Gold to really make these shine and sparkle with the rest of the card.

IRISH COFFEE FOR SOMEONE?

Hi friends, Martha Lucia here with an irish coffee to share with you! Have you see this beautiful clovers and swirls in the Unique Laser Store? I have to tell you that as a Colombian girl, we don't celebrate St. Patrick's but here in the US I saw a lot of ideas that inspired me to create something beautiful for you, so I decided to combine a few cultures in my creation.

I created a frame with a big size, 8"x10". This is perfect to use in our office or kitchen, near to the coffee maker. With this in mind I changed the traditional phrase Kiss Me, I'm Irish with Drink Me, I'm Irish.

These were my main materials, all from our Store. I used a different pieces. The top clover is a beautiful piece of 1"x1" that come in a package of ten and is called Clovers. The little square is a scrap piece from Kennyscrap and the large clover is a Special Order Item from Unique Laser Designs.

I painted them with Watercolor Green the clovers and the swirls with Yellow Paint, letting them dry for a few minutes.

Then using a Thinlits Little Letters and the big shot , I cut all my letters using the same colors. I pasted the green letter over the yellow a little bit moved to the right to give dimension to each one.

To compliment the decoration of my frame, I stamped a coffee cup with classic Ink Early Espresso over Very Vanilla Cardstock using the stamp set Perfect Blend from Stampin Up. After the image was stamped, I cut it with scissors.

After this, using my Get-It-Straight Laser Square from KellyCraft I aligned all the letters and embellishments over the paper base and pasted them one by one using a liquid glue. I started with the letters and and then with the embellishments.

Here some details of my laser cuts:

See you very soon with another Unique idea. Enjoy your Irish Coffee!

Mini Album of Love

Hello, Kisha here today and I have a mini album cover to share with you today. This is a premade album that I will continue to lightly embellish throughout, and give as a baby gift.

The Unique Laser Designs wood embellishments used for this project are:

I began my project by of course adding more pattern print layers and paper doilies. Although the book is covered with prints, I still like a bit of dimension. I also added a thin layer of gesso atop the layers just in case I decide to add ink in the end.

I chose to do a mild crackle finish on the Custom Wooden Doily. To create this finish, use a dark acrylic paint coat of your choice as your first layer. Allow that layer to dry, then

Add a coat of any white glue, while still tacky add your top lighter coat of acrylic paint.

Once you begin the drying process you should begin seeing the crackle effect.

Now let's continue to build those layers of embellishments. *NOTE* I used the same technique on the Love Script.

Here's the final look of the mini album.
