Autumn Burlap Canvas

Hello everyone!

I'm ready for fall.  How about you?

I miss the crisp air, the cool days and snugly nights, and watching the leaves change. The leaves have already started changing where I live. Green is on it's way out, allowing for a symphony of rich autumnal colors. Ok, it's also my favorite season. Excuse me if I seem a bit giddy.

This project was done on a 6X8" burlap canvas. I wanted some of the original burlap to show, so I washi taped an edge around the canvas. The next step was to fill in the center rectangle, on which I used gesso combined with two different powdered pigments. I first used a light color and then I stenciled red pigmented gesso on top of the light rectangle area.

I attached the word "Autumn" to inked patterned paper which was mounted on a piece of corrugated cardboard. I added three decorative brads and one jump ring brad to the title piece before gluing it to my canvas.

The bird on a branch and the feathers were covered with black gesso and then painted.

The canvas was finished off with flowers and a metal charm.

Thanks for stopping by!
