The Fellas Layout

Good morning!

Kisha here today to share a mixed media and very textural layout with you. I love working with the decorative pieces from Unique Laser Designs. These wooden pieces are great to use on classic mature type layouts as well as elegant or vintage style layouts.

The wooden design I used is a custom design piece, however, similar pieces can be found here, here, and here.  They can be utilized in the same manner for gain the exact effect.

To alter this decorative piece, I used gesso, embossing powder and color fragments.  Leaving lots of wood to peek through the added on embellishment, helps keep this layout masculine with the soft color used.

I added floral stems to tie in with the boutonnieres the guys wore in this wedding, then added splashes of gesso over the page to soften all the colors used.

Here's a side view of the layers and how the wooden embellishments tie in with the other layers on the page.

In this closeup, you can see how I combined the two individual wooden pieces to create the look of one continuous design.  This shows how individual pieces can be connected to appear as one design.
