Frosty Snowflakes

This is a picture of my friend's daughter at her first winter in the snow skiing.  She loved skiing and being the in the snow, but hated getting all bundled up and the first thing she did when she got back to the house was to take snow gear off.

I created this page using the wonderful  ULD snowflakes.

I started out painting all the chipboard snowflakes from ULD in white acrylic paint, the ones that were clear or already a white plastic I left alone.  I then let the paint dry.

I then took some of the painted snowflakes and added in some mica powder in white or a blend of white, brown, and blue to create a blue to match the papers.  I used a dry paint brush to apply the powder to the snowflakes that were pressed into Ranger perfect medium to the powder would stick to the snowflake.  This gave them a nice shimmer and shine.

For some of the other snowflakes including the white plastic ones I used some sparkle medium.  I just used my finger to dab a bit of the glitter medium to the snowflakes in the various color to make then all pretty and sparkly!

 

Time to get out those snow pictures, dusty them off, and make some beautiful snowy pages!!

Must Be Santa

It isn't Christmas without Santa!!!  This design uses Distressed inks/stains, wax, Promarkers, and Gel Pens.

Poinsettia is a special cut I designed.  There are a couple more sizes so you could add more petals to make the poinsettia bigger if designing on a bigger surface.  The inserts are cool as the Star of Bethlehem!

Distressed inked center of Santa Bingo Card in yellow hue.

Also Distressed with Tea Dye and edged card with Vintage stain.

Pounced a pink hue of Adirondack Dabber paints to lighten up the card.

Gelly pen used on eyes, hat design and other areas.

Painted Santa's beard white.

Promarker for Poinsettia, and face.  Used a darker hue for bottom petals.

Base coated little poinsettia petals in white then added Promarker in lighter hue.

Added Prills for center of poinsettia.

Used wax for outline areas of beard to make it raised.  Also did puddles of wax on hat for that fluffy look!  I sprinkled "Crystal Accents," (a very very fine mica glitter) to make the hat sparkle.

A Merry Christmas Canvas

Hello and happy Hump day! Sabrina Jackson here, with my very first post for ULD. 
I am honored to have been asked to join the team and share some of my creations with you all!  

For my first post I have a fun 8"x 8" canvas I made using the amazing "Merry Christmas", "Snowflakes"and the "Reindeer". 

I started out tearing my Vintage music sheets up and decoupaging them unto the frame of the canvas. After that was all dried up I toned everything down with some white Gesso. 
Since I used the blue Designer paper on the very back of the canvas I wanted to bring some blue in and I used the Folk Art Ice Blue and dabbed it over the Gesso. 

After the paint was dry I added the Poinsettias, leaves and silver picks on the opposite corners for more interest. The word "Merry Christmas" was dry brushed with Gesso and then I added some silver German Glass glitter.

The Reindeer was painted with white Gesso and all glittered up with Crystal glitter and adhered to the right bottom corner. He looked a tad bit plain, so I made a wreath out of tinsel trim and added a jingle bell. 
On the bottom ledge there I adhered three bottle brush trees and added the Buffalo snow. To add some more snowflakes besides the ones that are on the Designer paper, I added some glitter to the snowflakes and glued them randomly to the background and voila the Christmas canvas was done!

Snowflake Picture Frame

Hi everyone! It’s Elizabeth here to share with you my latest project as Guest Designer for Unique Laser Designs. When I first started this project, I had another Christmas card in mind, but, in the end, decided to do something different for a change....an off-the-page creation! This time I wanted to use the pretty ULD Snowflakes (the little ones) and Snowflakes B.  The large ones are chipboard and the tiny ones are MDF.

  

 I first used Adirondack’s Pearl Dabber on most of them and Silver Metallic Dabber on two of the large ones. While still wet, I sprinkled on Stampendous Shabby Blue, Shabby White and Aged Silver on the various flakes and heat embossed them. On two of the white ones I spread some Ranger’s Glossy Accents and then sprinkled on Diamond Chunky Glitter Glass from Reneabouquets.

I prepped the frame with some Gesso and chose the paper I wanted to use. This is double-sided K & Company’s EB Visions of Christmas. In the picture below, I have the side I wanted to use facing down so I could outline the frame for cutting out.

I then inked around all the edges of the frame with Tim Holtz Faded Jeans Distress Ink Pad, just rubbing it on. I like how it makes it look sort of aged.

I distressed the edges of my paper all around and inked around them with the TH Faded Jeans ink pad and then used Mod Podge matte finish over the face of the frame to glue my paper down. Once it was adhered I then used Mod Podge Gloss finish and allowed it to dry before placing some cheesecloth, a berry spray and the snowflakes I decided to use on the frame. I also added a few Queen & Co. Twinkle Goosebumps rhinestones for added bling.

Quite simple really! I hope you like it and encourage you to try making one for yourself!

Gnome for Christmas

"I'll be Gnome for Christmas..."  Love this Gnome!!!  I have 2 sized rubber stamps of him, and this is a graphic I enhanced.

The mixed snowflake set was used in my design.  There are 2 other snowflake sets available - one with all sorts of different snowflake patterns!

Cut out a watercolor tag and use both ink and Aqua markers to create a snowy background.  The string color was achieved by coloring with Aqua marker and then spritzing with water.  The color spread and covered all the string!

Snowflakes are layers of different inks and stippled white ink for snow look.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.......

BONUS!!!:

A project for Letraset ProMarkers using an insert piece from ULD to make a sun, and the tiny tree from the snowman ornament!
