ULD - LOVE BOOK

Hello everyone!  

Today I want to share this project with you all.  

Inspiration comes easily when using laser wood embellishments from 

Unique Laser Designs.

I'm using the heart shapes and gears throughout the project.  

 I applied gesso to a paper mache book as well as all the embellishments I planned to use. 

Then I used white embossing paste using three different stencils.

Everything was glued into place.  I overlapped the hearts in this picture above on the lower left.

I tore strips of paper with gears on it from Tattered Tales and glued them to the sides of the book using Mod Podge.

First I began to cover the spine of the book with words from a dictionary then I changed my mind about it and instead, I cut strips of aluminum cabinet paper.

I used my glimmer mists on the book, keeping clear of the sides.

Used my Silks (spicy tomato) to deepen some of the red areas that I had misted.  To deepen the blue/green areas I used acrylic paint, classic teal.

After drying drying, I took my Inka Golds, silver and lava red and blended it around the sides of the the book using my finger.  

There's another ULD gear behind the angel and another below the red pot.

The "XO" above is a ULD wood embellishment.

In the above photo you can see another heart with the arrow laying on it and a smaller one near the buckle..

After things got completely dry, I went over some areas with the silver Inka Gold metallic rub for highlights, 

I then added some metal embellishments.

ULD - Hearts, Birds & Gear - Memorial

Hello everyone!

Ivette here with you to share another fun project that I've created for 

Unique Laser Designs.

  This one is in memory of my two labrador retrievers, named Sydney (after Sydney Portier) and Anakin, from Star Wars.  They they were 14 and 15 1/2 yrs when they passed on due to natural causes.

This time around I'm using a 4x4 canvas featuring the beautiful specialized wood laser cuts of hearts, bird and gear, which are all from 

Unique Laser Designs.

I coated the canvas, hearts, bird and gear with gesso.

Then I used the glossy white, Embossing Paste over the Tim Holtz Hearts stencil using a multi-purpose squeegee from Tsukineko.

I used Distress Ink, Spiced Marmalade around the canvas, keeping the center lighter and the edges darker.  The lighter part of the center is really a home made stencil made from a sheet of transparency film that was cut from one of Tim Holtz' Bigz Dies, Winged Hearts using the Vagabond.

I covered the hearts, bird and gear with the Distress ink.

Then I smothered the heart and bird with Glossy Accent.

With the gear, I used Crackle Accent.

To create grass behind the dogs, which are Jolee's stickers that comes with a white bone and a tennis ball. I used Liquid Pearls which are dimensional pearlescent paint.  They come is many beautiful colors.  You'll love using them if you aren't already.

Other embellishments which were glued with Alleen's Fast Grab Tacky Glue such as a piece of screen with a mini corner on top, a piece of white string of pearls (on the bottom), white paper wings and a piece of bendable fence that I cut in half and placed on the bottom corners.

A metallic heart which represents the abundance of love I have for all my dogs.

ULD - BABY FRAME

Today I am sharing a picture frame that I created for a 
very special little one named Alexis.  
She brings much joy to our family.  
We are all in Love...

I started with the unaltered products.

 

  First, I used gesso on the picture frame, ULD pacifier, bib and gears.

The sprocket gears were then re-painted with white acrylic paint and Mod Podge.

The bib was covered with Crackle Paint, Tattered Rose, as well as  the pacifier (only on the nipple). The same was done on the two  gears that were not photographed.

I painted the rest of the pacifier with Distress Stain, Barn Door and around the edges of the bib.

After the crackle paint dried, I used Distress Ink, Fired Brick lightly over the cracks to make them pop.  I smothered all the pieces with Clear Crackle Paint, Rock Candy.

The picture frame was inked with Distress Ink, Tattered Rose.  A 6x6 Gears stencil with D.I. Barn Door was used around the picture frame.  Darker on some areas than others, then covered with

 Mod Podge.

Note:  When Mod Podge is used over Distress Inks it smears.  This was done intentionally to soften the hard lines created by the stencil.

I hot glued the Lace Ribbon around the edges,

Added the string of white pearls on the outside and inner part of the frame.  

Mounted the gear embellishments in place using E6000 & hot glue.

On the bib and pacifier, I added Recollections Tiny Rhinestones and a baby bottle that I painted  using a Copic Pen, R08.

I added a white bow to the bottom and some 

Creative Imagination epoxy letters for the sentiment,

"Grandpa's Little Girl."

Love Canvas

Welcome Bloggers!

I am officially announcing my first project as a new

Design Team member with 

Unique Laser Designs.

Starting off with an 8X10 canvas that I prepped with white gesso. 

Luckily, I had some green tissue paper leftover from the holidays.

Tore some pieces and used Mod Podge to adhere it to the canvas.

After it dried, I used white gesso on the canvas and on some of the embellishments I thought I would use for this project.  

I love gears and decided to include micro gears.

After it was dry, I began to create layers of embellishments and then began to mount them onto the canvas using 

E6000 and a glue gun.

These hearts are from ULD.

I was very excited when I received my package with embellishments and saw more gears!

This is how the canvas looked after I covered everything with gesso, I also used white acrylic paint in some areas that were a bit dull.  The photo I used on this project was covered so that it would not get paint on it.  

I used Glimmer Mists, Candy Apple, Cross My Heart and 

Plain Jane's Baseboard which is also made by

Glimmer Mist.  

Distress Crackle Paint, Fired Brick was used on some of the corners.  After all the misting was completed and dried, I then used white Acrylic paint on a wide brush.   I brushed from the top of the canvas down using semi dry feathered strokes, going in one direction.  If you never did this, it will take a little practice to produce the look you want.  

Once you get the hang of it you'll be all over the place creating some awesome projects.

On the left side of the canvas (above) I used a piece of a broken small terra cotta pot and added a small piece of styrofoam inside it to hold the little hearts on a wire that I glued together.  I also coiled some silver and red wire and stuck them in there along with the floral hearts.  They look like metallic flowers.  Seems like this has become a trademark of mine.

  I drew an outline of a shield onto chipboard and added the photo in the center.  The photo was covered the entire time I was playing with the canvas.  Had some toy handcuffs laying around and decided to place them above the photo with a Prima flower in the center.

In the upper right hand corner, I mounted two wooden gears 

and glued a ball beaded chain around it.

As well as the word Love.

 The heart above is one of ULDs Heart Shapes with cutouts.

 I added a piece of mesh and loaded it with micro gears.

Underneath the heart (above) is another

 Unique Laser Designs gear that I used as a flower with a micro gear in the center.

I've had some small silk flowers and used them throughout the canvas.  

  

It's hard to see the word band above the photo that reads, 

'know in your heart you are loved'.

The lips around the photo also come from  Unique Laser Designs. 

I used layered pieces of burlap (that was also gessoed) and topped it with the letter "S" which was made out of grunge board.   

(You can see I added micro gears onto it, I wasn't kidding that I love gears)

This close up shows you a piece of laced trimming that was placed behind the gears.  

Here's a close up of the ball beaded chain on the upper right hand corner which surrounds the heart.   

Can you see the little hanger on the handcuff?

After everything was dry, I added some Distress Crackle Paint onto the corners.  

The last two things I did to the canvas was spray it with

a can of Clear Acrylic, (leaves a soft matte coating on the canvas) and I used Glossy Accent Crackle, but, I think the crackle was old  because it didn't crack, which bummed me out because I placed it on the wings, shield frame, the keys and words... oh well,

as Tim says, 'embrace your imperfections!'
