Lovely Easter Shaker Card

Have you seen these fun shaker cards? They are everywhere and so easy to make, especially when you have beautiful laser cuts from Unique Laser Designs

For today's Easter shaker card, I used four different ULD wooden laser cuts:
1. Bunnies (6 pc. set)
2. Easter Eggs (6 pc. set)
3. Butterflies (Sm)
4. Daisy-Chubby (5 pc. set)

Decorate the wooden laser cuts any way you'd like. You could leave them bare, paint them with acrylic paints, or paint and cover them with pretty Easter glitter.

To make the card base, begin with a pink piece of card stock, cut 5 inches square. Then take a piece of black card stock, 4.75 inches square, and the flower patterned piece, cut 4.5 inches square. Adhere the black card stock on to the pink card stock.

To make the insert wreath, take a second shade of pink card stock, and die cut the Grendon Wreath, from Poppystamps. Carefully punch out and set aside. Then center the metal die cut onto your patterned piece, tape down with a little piece of removable tape, and cut out the wreath. Carefully remove the die cut from the pattern.

Carefully insert the pink wreath into the patterned card stock. Use a little removable tape on the back to keep it snuggly in place.

Turn the pattern piece over and adhere a piece of plastic acetate over the back of the wreath. Use as little glue as possible to keep it securely in place. Cut out a square piece of craft foam and adhere it onto the back of the patterned piece of card stock. Apply glue and let it sit for a moment. This photo shows the back side of the patterned piece, the blue removable tape holding the wreath snuggly in place, the acetate piece glued on top, and the black craft foam piece glued into place, with more glue on the top.

 

On top of the black card stock, add a colorful piece of pattern paper and glue securely in place. Make sure it will not show through the flowery pattern piece that will fit on top. Add your shaker filler to the center of the card. You can use colorful sequins, micro beads, confetti, whatever you choose. When the sequins are in place, carefully adhere the pattern piece 'window" you have created and press in place. Set aside and let dry. Do not be tempted to shake your card until it is completely dry! When it dries, add your beautiful Unique Laser Designs wooden laser cuts. I used a bunny, an Easter egg, a tiny butterfly, and a chubby daisy to make this colorful Easter shaker card!

For this project I worked with these products:

I applied acrylic paint to the flowers and butterfly and let dry.

Here is the layout:

 I just love using ULD wood products because they are beautiful and can be used for any project.

{Step 1}

I began by applying texture paste to a stencil for the background. Allow to dry then applied ink and mist.

While drying I applied the beautiful frame to the picture followed by placing the wood flowers on the frame. for this layout I wanted the frame to standout without the paint this time. I just love that wooden look.

{Step 2}

I centered the picture frame on the layout and placed a small butterfly on the leaf of the flower.

 Then it was time to place the embellishments on the layout. I inked the title and placed it as well.

{Step 4}

 Almost finished! I applied a line of journal and date.

 All done! Olivia looks so cute enjoying nature and the ULD products makes this layout stand out.

Altered Clipboard Art

Rachelle here sharing my latest project using products from

Unique Laser Designs! 

These are the products I used. They are beautiful laser wood cut outs.

Each piece should be painted first!

 To start off I used this simple wood clipboard.

Now here is the finished project:

"Just Create!"

I began by applying layers of selected cardstock and paper punch edges.

Next, applied texture paste to a Prima stencil and let dry. Then I inked the pattern and used spritz and allowed to dry.

Next, I applied the lace to the bottom and top of the clipboard followed by applying the string of pearls.

 Now it's time for the embellishments. I applied Prima resin pieces, flowers, tags, clocks, pearls, and a few metal elements. Notice I applied pearls to the birdcage and bling to the board.

 Here you can see the title.

I place the scrolls together and the lettering in the center.

Here you can see the 3D butterfly. I love how the 2 pieces are simply put together. The ribbon and bows are the finally elements place on the board.

 So here we have it! The finished project.

In an attempt to help solve this conundrum, we chose to work with a group of talented designers, and nearly daily, projects are posted to help inspire you with all sorts of different ways that ULD products can be used...on just about every type of surface and in just about any way you could imagine...projects to show you that MDF isn't something to shy away from, but rather something so embrace !

Change can be scary, the thought of trying new things can seem daunting, stepping out of your comfort zone is overwhelming...  
So...in an attempt to give everyone the opportunity to have access to our amazing designs, and possibly "test the waters" and maybe try their hand at wood...we've decided to produce our designs in a more well known material that you'll be familiar with

...CHIPBOARD !

A tiny selection of whats available in chipboard

Due to the nature of some of our designs, not everything will be able to be cut from chipboard, but there is an enormous selection still to choose from.  

As a way to try and slowly show you that you can do the same things (often times with more successful results) by using MDF in your projects...I'll add a little special something to each chipboard order. ;)   I ask that you keep an open mind and use it.  I'm sure you'll soon realize that it is much better than you anticipated it would be !  :)

Small in size, BIG on wishes

Dropping in with some cards that are "small in size, but BIG on wishes" today, all using small wood embellishments from Unique Laser Designs.  For all of these, I used a card base of kraft paper that is 4"x4" inches (when folded).  I used washi tape as the background (SO quick and easy), and then colored my wood embellishments with Copic markers.  I added a layer of Glossy Accents to give them a shiny dimension.  I LOVE this bird on a branch---he is simply cute!

For this turtle card, I colored him with Copics, popped on a googly eye, and then added a layer of sparkly green micro-glitter.  For those birthdays you (almost) forget...the outside reads "this birthday card is not late", the inside says "it's just slow". 

                        

I pushed colored clay into the spaces in this 3D butterfly and then blinged it out with some Glossy Accents and glitter glue on the antennae.

Do you recognize that sentiment below the butterfly?  

 This 3 piece cupcake is sweet and looks good enough to eat!  I used white ink to color the frosting, Copic markers for the cherry, and an icing of Glossy accents sprinkled with micro-beads.

Using these adorable shapes from Unique Laser Designs makes the "recipe" for these cards quick and simple.  It will have you coming back to make seconds (and thirds, and fourths...).      

                                    

The Beauty of Blossoms

Hi there crafters!

Rachelle here today sharing the beauty of cherry blossoms.

 I always see beautiful trees filled with cherry blossoms where I live.

So I decided to create this wood project using

Unique Laser Design Wood Cut Outs.

 

 

I started by using acrylic paint to create a nature background inside my small

shadow box. While letting this dry, I began painting the cherry blossoms, leaves 

and tree limbs.

Next I attached the wood corner onto the box followed by placing some

 embellishments near the top.

Next I placed a tree cut out inside the box followed by 

attaching the cherry blossom cutout to the inside of the box.

I finished by placing a butterfly and bird onto the cutout.

I glued a ULD small butterfly onto a tree limb.

There you have it. All finished!!!

Very simple and easy peasy.

I will be giving this as a gift to a friend.
