Monogrammed Basket

Hello Everybody!

Katy here and today I am sharing a project I made for a friend of mine using awesome wood embellishments from the Unique Laser Designs Store.

These are wood embellishments that I used:

Praying Hands in Oval

Butterflies (Small and Large)

UC Copper J-3 Inches

And then I got to the point where my basket needed one more thing: Lock and Key-Fancy.

I found this could little basket at a thrift store for $3.  And it was on sale for half off!  Friends-it really doesn't get any better than that! :)

Here is the inside so it looks like someone painted it-just like I'm gonna do! :)

First I applied a coat (or two!) of gesso.  Then I mixed white and "latte" together to get the base paint for the basket.  Then I sponged a brown over the basket.

So here is my finished basket.

Here is the Lock and Key-I think it is so nice! I inked it red then I put a pink it over it.  The Inka Gold is on the key (I love that stuff!) :)

Here is a close up of the lid.  I added a plastic rose and the canvas flower on the right.  The polka dots are light modeling paste mixed with Pretty in Pink Ink Refill from Stampin' Up.  And the J!

For the J I used glossy accents and the vintage glass glitter from Melissa Francis.  And my friend has 4 kids so I wanted to honor them with little butterflies.

Here is the inside of the lid.  I love the praying hands and cross but I didn't know how to paint it.  So I left it, and I am glad I did.

Personalized just for my door

With all the wreaths I have made, one would think I live in a house with 1000 doors.  The truth is, I only have 2.  But, I like to re-arrange and update and refresh and change my door decorations a LOT!

This berry wreath has been around my house for awhile, so I though it was time it got a makeover.  I used a large (5") letter "S"  for Starsky and small (1") numbers for our address and an oak leaf (from the 5 piece leaf set) all from Unique Laser Designs. Twinkling H20s are my new favorite watercolor and they added a sparkling shimmer to the oak leaf and to the numbers.

For the "S", I used Distress Stains, creating overlapping stripes along the grain of the wood and then I added some random criss-cross swipes with more Twinkling H20s.

I added that oak leaf with a removable adhesive so I can replace it with different shapes depending on the season.  I'm thinking an ornament for Christmas, a heart for Valentines Day, a bunny for Easter, a flower for spring.  Looks like I have some more creating to do!  Thankfully, Unique Laser Designs has a shape for every need and for every holiday!

 I so enjoy creating these projects and this time I used a mixed media style.

Since I love painting I used a basic paint pallet for this project.

First, I placed strips of tissue paper on the pallet and then painted white.

Next, I added a brick design using a stencil and homemade texture paste.

It does the same thing as mod podge and gesso just less expensive.

Homemade Smooth Texture Paste

1/4 cup Talcum Powder (I used Johnson's Baby Powder, Make it smell good too!!)

1 tablespoon White All purpose School Glue

1 tablespoon White Craft Paint

Some Water 

 Instructions:  Combine talcum powder, glue, white paint with disposable chopsticks (or plastic spoon) in an airtight container, adding water to get it to the consistency you are looking for.  You want a nice thick texture much like toothpaste.  The mixture will keep perfectly for many months.

It works!!!!!

 More Views:

 I painted the paint brushes and applied them then let dry.

Then I applied the various colors.

Next came the embellishments.

I then painted the letters and applied them to the board along with various

journaling.

 Lastly I applied the ULD paint splats.

There you have you have it!!!!

Just a little sparkle

Sometimes, just a little bit of sparkle is all you need.  Anything more than a little, tends to leave me covered in glitter from head to toe!  So, when I recently found this giant fleur de lis stamp, I thought it would be perfect for some monogrammed stationary cards for my dear friend's birthday.

These one inch size letters in Cooper font from Unique Laser Designs are just the perfect size for these cards, and they are thin enough that they don't add a lot weight to the card.  The card will still slide right into an envelope.  I simply spread a thin layer of glue over the letter and then sprinkled on some micro-fine glitter.

The gray cards were stamped with clear ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder, and the green ones were stamped with olive ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. 

Speaking of envelopes, I added some washi tape on the flaps of these for an added surprise of color and a hint for what the recipient will find inside.

The Perfect Pillow

Rachelle here today sharing something special for cat lovers.

Although I don't have a cat, I still love them.

 Little Cat Pillow

 I bought this little pillow long time ago from Goodwill. I finally got a chance

to decorate it using

Unique Laser Design Wood Cut Outs.

I painted the letters, heart, and banner pieces.

Then I added then using burlap string and hot glue gun.

The pillow came with the burlap string around the neck.

 Closer Views:

 I added a small gold bell to the string. The letters, banner, and heart

pieces have burlap string too.

Finally I added burgandy ribbon and button.

 There you have it.

The perfect little pillow.

Owl Wall Hanging

Hi there, Michelle here to share a wall hanging I made using Unique Laser Designs products.  I started with this cute owl cut out and some letters.

 

 

With a little paint, a little glue and a little glitter, here's what I created.

 

I painted the letters black then covered with black glitter.  I painted the owls purple and pink,  I covered the purple with a larger translucent glitter, then covered the pink whit a bright pink glitter.

Wishing for spring wreath

My wish...SPRING!
Oh spring, spring...where for art thou spring?

I created something springy and crafty last week, but it really didn't seem to have any effect on Mother Nature, so I'm trying again. This time, I'm making a wreath to grace the door and scare away the winter spirits.  And I'm using ADORABLE spring shapes from Unique Laser Designs!

First, I took a straw wreath and wrapped and wrapped it with this pastel variegated yarn.

Next, I took some canvas flower shapes from Linnie Blooms,  I colored them with gelatos (pink and orange), and spritzed with water so I could spread the color with my fingers.  On some of the flowers I added LOTS of color, some just a bit.  Some are more orange, some are more pink. A flowery hodge-podge!

Next, it's painting time!  I painted these ADORABLE Easter shapes and letters from Unique Laser Designs.

I "marble-ized" the solid egg and bunny by blending gelatos over the dried acrylic paint and then splattered the letters with pink paint after covering them with a few thin coats of Distress Stain Picket Fence.

This is my ode to spring.  Mother Nature are you listening this time?

I couldn't stop playing with these adorable shapes, so I'm tucking in a few more ideas if you get a few minutes to play.
